Time passes

I know it’s been a bit of time since Ken’s last entry here, so I wanted to update everyone on the happenings here in Tucson town, and in Colorado, where Ken is currently doing several bookstores and private parties.

On July 28th, Ken will be doing MC duties and intermission for the Yampa Valley Boys in front of FM Light’s Western Store on Main Street in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. This is a celebration that is in Celebration of the National Day of the Cowboy, so if you are in the vicinity, please stop by. I’m sure Ken would be pleased ta see ya’.

We have had a busy summer and have been doing a lot of traveling, which is one reason why we haven’t written in a while. I wanted to make sure you were all aware of several upcoming events that I have just posted on the calendar. Please go take a look.

On August 11th, we will be in Willcox, Arizona, for a western swing dance. Please stop on by.

On August 25th, we will be at a western swing in Sonoita, Arizona, at the fairgrounds.

On August 30th, we will be performing at the Alpine, Arizona, Friends of the Library fundraising event. This is a wonderful time of the year to visit the lovely little town of Alpine, Arizona, which is nestled in the White Mountains at 8,000 feet. The scenery is fantastic, the weather is cool, there is fishing and boating very nearby. All in all, a great place to visit. Please join us, at this fundraising event. If you need further information regarding lodging, please feel free to contact us.

And in October (12-14) Ken will again be performing at Rex Allen Days, including the Cowboy Church and pancake breakfast on Sunday.

And let’s not forget the 3rd Annual Karen and Ken’s Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering on October 27th. This is Ken’s signature event, and will feature Ken, along with some good friends of his making music and performing poetry. We provide the food and drinks. Come and enjoy. Please email us for further information on that.

And in November, the premier event will be the Arizona Cowboy Symposium held in Sonoita and featuring 3 days of cowboy poetry, western music, vendors, food, dancing and all around fun. Ken will be performing several times during this event, so please check back for schedules and times. I will post those as soon as I have that information.

Rawhide

Date:  February 22, 2007

We just got back from an evening of great fun at The Rawhide at Wild Horse Pass, south of Phoenix.  What a wonderful evening.  The Rawhide Steakhouse and Saloon offers a great venue for real western entertainment, with their beautifully decorated establishment, era-costumed employees, and located right in their own Old West Town.

The entertainment tonight was right off the top shelf, opening with the ever popular music and song of Katy Creek.  Nancy and Wes Ruybal were at the level we have come to expect from them, their best!  Following them was a mix of the sweet voice of Joe Baer and excellent reciting of the old classics by Jan Corey.

This was a great warmup for the headliner performance, a performance that captivated us all, by Journey West.  Audrey, Gail and Dawn, besides bein’ jist plumb darn knockout purdy, sang and played their hearts out, so much so that the audience demanded an encore number.  It’s an hour-and-a-half drive back to Tucson and remnants of their selections and some top shelf yodeling is still filling my head.

All those who were there know this, that those of you who weren’t missed a really fun event.  But . . . . . . . . you can redeem yourselves by being there on Thursday, March 22nd when we’ll do it all over again, exactly the same, ‘cept different!

In the meantime, you can see me perform Live! on March 3rd at La Posta Quemada Ranch in Colossal Cave Mountain Park, Tucson, Arizona, from 2-3 p.m. during their Western Heritage Days.  I’ll be part of a full day of great western activities, including some real fine cowboy poetry.  The festivities will start at 11 a.m. and run until 3 p.m.

Enjoy the sunset at the end of all your trails!

Ken
